TEAM Tsunami (Teaching Environmental
Awareness to Mankind), is a student driven community service group of 4th and
3rd graders from Point Dume Marine Science Elementary School in Malibu, California.
We have adopted Naucrates Marine Science Research Center and Koh Phra Thong Island,Thailand
as the focus of ongoing school and community wide tsunami relief efforts. This
area is north of Phuket, on the Andaman Sea Coast. It is close to Burma and was
the focus of extensive conservation and research work on sea turtles, mangrove
forests and coral reefs.
Naucrates Marine Science Research Center was destroyed and, the island, Koh Phra
Thong was devastated. Many residents, scientists, and volunteers were killed during
the December 2004, tsunami.
Please help us restore their hope, and rebuild the villages
and their future. Naucrates taught residents about sustainability—to
value their fragile land and sea resources. They made a difference—so can we!
